Growing up in my family's restaurant taught me more about financial planning than any textbook ever could. From age eight to twenty-five, I worked at the Arrow, my family's restaurant that we ran for 65 years. I watched my family show up for the same customers year after year. That's relationship building. That's what trust looks like in real life. 

But I also watched my family lose everything. 

They'd built something remarkable through owning restaurants and real estate. Gone, but they never put a plan in place to protect or pass it on. No strategy to preserve it, no plan to pass it on. That experience changed the direction of my life. I'm not in this business because I love talking about tax codes and annuities. I'm in it because I refuse to watch another family work that hard only to see it disappear.

My wife Erin, out Chief Operations Officer, and together we've grown our practice by treating clients the way my family treated my family's restaurant patrons. We know you. We invite you to educational events and client dinners throughout the year. You work with us, not some rotating cast of strangers at a call center. I'm licensed in 26 states, but my roots run deep right here. My family arrived in 1912, and have been serving our community since, and Erin and I still live in Black Rock, where we support our local food pantry and belong to Fairweather Yacht Club. 

When I'm not working, I'm usually with family (the little ones crack me up), playing drums or piano, or planning adventures with Erin. We can be sure our pampered pug, Ralphie, will judge us heavily when we leave. 

What gets me out of bed every morning? Watching someone realize they're actually going to be okay. Watching them stop second-guessing every financial decision and start enjoying what they worked so hard to build. My grandparents deserved that. Your family deserves it too.
